Microsoft CoPilot / Smart Assistant / AI (Artificial Intelligence) is Here and Everywhere Now & Soon

Ever wished you had a smart assistant that could help you with your work tasks, such as writing documents, creating presentations, analyzing data, or summarizing meetings? Well, it's here with Microsoft CoPilot, a new feature that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) into Microsoft 365 apps and services.

It’s not just a chatbot. It is a powerful tool that combines large language models (LLMs) with your data in the Microsoft Graph—your calendar, emails, chats, documents, meetings, and more—and then Microsoft 365 apps to turn your words into actions. You can use natural language prompts to ask CoPilot to do things for you across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more.

Examples:

• In Word, you can ask CoPilot to draft a document based on an outline or a data source. You can also ask it to rewrite paragraphs or change the tone of your writing.
• In Excel, you can ask CoPilot to create charts or tables based on your data. You can also ask it to explain what it sees in your data or show you how it performed a task.
• In PowerPoint, you can ask CoPilot to create slides based on your notes or keywords. You can also ask it to change the design or layout of your presentation.
• In Outlook, you can ask CoPilot to write an email based on a subject or a recipient. You can also ask it to schedule a meeting or follow up on an action item.
• In Teams, you can ask CoPilot to summarize your meeting based on the transcript and notes. You can also ask it to list out the questions or tasks that were discussed.

Microsoft CoPilot is designed to work alongside you and help you unleash creativity, unlock productivity, and uplevel skills. It learns from your feedback and preferences and adapts to your style and needs. It also respects your privacy and security.

Well, that’s a lot to take in.  It is “freakily cool”, and it's here.  Some users have it now and it will be rolling out to M365/Office users now through the end of the year.  I had to digest this a bit, but it aligns with Microsoft’s vision on the “Future of Work”. It will empower you to achieve more with less effort and more joy.  It is truly a copilot for work making the harder tasks easier for you to accomplish.
