Microsoft Dynamics 365 users flocked to Columbus Ohio last week to attend the Dynamics User Group meeting.  The 24 hours of sessions and networking created an opportunity for everyone to learn from the sessions and each other.  While the record setting attendance was nice to see, it raised a question in my mind.  Why didn't more people attend?

We're busy, I get it.  However, as the old saying goes, "if we want to continue to chop our wood effectively, we must stop to sharpen the saw".

User groups, peer groups, industry associations all of one thing in common, they seek to provide education to those members of the tribe that seek to improve or are struggling with an issue.  Prioritizing the time to be involved in whatever group fits the profile of your business, industry, or role is critical to our professional development.  How we ensure that we have the time to attend these meetings is key.

This is the trick; we do have the time.  We all have exactly the same amount of time.  We need to have a plan and then make a choice.  Whether we rise early in the morning to make our children breakfast or go to the gym to work out; we had a plan, established our priorities, and then made a choice to stick to our plan.

Plan your work and work your plan.
