Leadership & Learning from Craig

Hey Everyone,

I’m going to take a little break from AI this month and discuss the importance of empathy and communications in the workforce.  I have always believed this and just read an article where Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO, discussed Empathy as the ‘hardest skill set’ to learn.  He goes on to say Empathy is vital for running a successful business.

From my perspective, it's easy to lose sight of the human element that holds businesses together. Behind every email, every project, and every decision is a person with feelings, aspirations, and challenges. As such, understanding and valuing empathy and communication in the workplace is not just a "nice-to-have", but an essential component for organizational success. Here's why:

  1. Builds Trust
  2. Boosts Morale and Productivity
  3. Drives Innovation
  4. Reduces Conflict
  5. Enhances Customer Relations
  6. Supports Personal Development

In an age we are in, dominated by digital communications and increasing automation, the importance of genuine human connection cannot be overstated. Empathy and communication are not just soft skills; they are crucial tools for forging strong relationships, driving business success, and fostering a workplace where everyone feels valued and heard.

As we all want to have great cultures that include respect, let’s navigate the challenges of the modern workplace, let's prioritize these qualities and recognize their immense value to help us all accomplish what we want.

Action Items

  • Read Satya’s Empathy Article Here
  • Do a Checkup on your Empathy Skill Set - determine if you are using it
  • Use ChatGPT or Bing for ONE THING you are working on EVERY DAY
  • Start using Bing or Edge with Bing – it has ChatGPT 4 built in
  • Use the Mobile ChatGPT App – Recipes, Travel Itinerary’s, etc.

Remember to use Microsoft Planner to keep your teams aligned on priorities.  Most communication issues come from not being aligned.  Take care...

Enjoy the journey,

Craig C. Sroda
