Attention Deficit Advantage

It seems like we have more meetings, and they are longer than they need to be.  Patrick Lencioni has written books like Death by Meeting, but this podcast nails how to get more time back by shortening meetings and making them more effective.

If you haven’t heard of the law of expansion or Parkinson’s law, it is that “work expands to the time available to complete it” or something close to that.  The same goes for meetings. If we allocate an hour, we use an hour.  This podcast breaks this belief, which I have been working into my meetings.

If you shorten the time allocated for a meeting, it gets done faster, with more focus.  Essentially taking out the slack in meetings.  You can’t do this for every meeting as some require time to think, process out loud, and brainstorm, but that is the minority of meetings.
